One of the best kept secrets in Philadelphia is that there is a resurgence of black rockers on the scene. Two bands of those bands will be rocking it out tonight, St. Patty’s Day at Doc Watsons. While each has its own unique sound, both rock hard and will definitely have you out of your seats!

St. Alborne, the night’s opener, features front man, Damon Small, whose Bajan roots serves as part of the band’s influence. But don’t get it twisted! St. Alborne is metal funk that goes harder than the best of ‘em, and Damon’s soulful voice over heavy bass, guitar, and drums will certainly have you amplified. Some of you may be caught off guard with the screams and gut wrenching sounds, but it’s Damon’s subtle way of reminding us of our roots in rock music.

Capping off the night will be Grindcity, a Philadelphia main-stay. With JO leading the band along with sexy guitarist, Gab Guma, Grindcity combines hip hop with rock, soul, and funk. The high energy and talent of this group has propelled them from Philadelphia to performing in shows all around the region. You’ll definitely be in for a treat, and one thing is for sure, with Grindcity, there is something for everybody.

Now you know everyone’s Irish on St. Patty’s Day, right? So make sure to come out, grab ye a Guiness, and rock ye out at Doc Watson’s Pub, 216 S 11th St. I hope to see you there!
